- Chocolate mold arts:Around 4000 years ago, chocolate was known by the Mayan and Aztec civilizations as a popular sacred drink. It had many names and different uses since that time. Chocolate was widely known in the 19th century as bars and pieces but had a very limited variety of shapes and flavors. The classic original taste was the only thing that mattered for consumers at that time. Later, the shape of the chocolate bar became important for marketing reasons and many molds were made of silicon. At the beginning, natural simple materials were used to manufacture the molds but when silicon was later used, more specific shapes for kids and adults’ different interests and preferences were created. We may find molds with animals, flowers, or animation characters’ shapes to attract kids. Some molds are designed by specialists to make chocolate that suits consumers with special psychological needs. Recently, due to the technological advance, flat and 3D molds are used to make very detailed chocolate shapes. The latest trends in the industry is the 3D printing for different purposes.
